Our Course Improvement Plan
The golf course at Settlers Run is a very good test of golf. Several changes will make it even better. In addition to cosmetic changes, this plan seeks to address two major issues we face to increase the playability and conditioning of the course. Delivery of this Plan will make the course a great test of all golf all year round.
The cosmetic changes are intended to:
- Address the “sameness” of the hazards and challenges to create more variety.
- Create more risk and reward shots.
- Introduce more natural challenges to diversify the hazards around the course.
Alongside these cosmetic changes, the major issues to be addressed are:
- Drainage - the flow of water into, around and off the course is a major and ongoing challenge and will be improved as these works are undertaken.
- Bunkers – the design and construction of the bunkers present constant challenges to presenting a high-quality golf course. Major reconstruction of the bunkers around the course will be a key feature of this plan.
With a clear plan in place, the Board, Management and Course Committee are now working on the timing and phasing to deliver a detailed timeline for delivery of the Plan. The costs associated with this plan are significant and the plan will therefore take several years to complete.
